Wood fence comes in as many styles as your imagination can come up with. The most common style is solid board (all boards on one side of the structure, post and rails exposed on the other side). A fence can be built with a variety of tops, either Flat Top (square cut), Dog Ear (mitered corners), Top Cap (horizontal 2" x 4" or 2" x 6"), Concave Top or Convex Top, or Lattice Top.
Your fence can be built with either pressure treated wood posts, or round or square steel posts. Pressure treated posts are the most common, but have several drawbacks. They sometimes warp severely or split, and they all eventually rot off. How long they last is determined by a variety of ground conditions and installation methods.
Our founder, Ken Downing, recognized the need for a change in the wood fence industry. Most wood fences in this part of the country did not last very long. Usually the 4x4 posts rotted off at ground level and the fence either blew over or just fell over on their own. He knew he needed to develop a solution to this problem.
Our specialty is a roll formed "C" channel post that has a .121 wall thickness and a bending strength of 247 pounds. Since the post was flat on the sides where the rails attach, it enabled you to nail boards on both sides without ripping boards at every post. The C channel allows water to escape the post so it won’t freeze inside and split the post.
Why Steel?
Steel posts last a lot longer as they will not rot, warp or split (like wood) and some are stronger than wood posts. Steel posts are easier to install, saving both time and money. We guarantee these posts to withstand winds up to 60 mph for as long as our customer owns their home.
The Fenceman Fence Company had found the answer to giving our customers the privacy of wood with the longevity of steel. After a few years these posts became a standard in the industry in our area. Our builders and developers requested them as well as most homeowners.
No matter what style of wood fence our customers choose, all our lumber is guaranteed to meet grade standards for a full year and our craftsmanship is guaranteed for the life of the fence. If we install something the wrong way (mistakes can happen), we come back and fix it, NO CHARGE.
We would like to thank you and your company for such a professional job on the purchase and installation of our fence. We are happy with the outcome. We received so many compliments from neighbors and people passing by the house. Thank you again for your professionalism and you can be sure we will mention your company when anyone is inquiring about the fence.
